I read a short post where someone argued the EU should decouple itself from the squabbles of “desert tribes” so long as they “fulfill their obligations to the international marketplace”, i.e. deliver energy resources in a cheap and timely manner. My assumption is you share the same opinion here.
As for a diplomatic shift towards Africa, could you elaborate upon that?
From a geopolitical point of view I think Africa is more important for the EU than the Middle East, especially for the Mediterranean region, for energetic and migration issues. There are already steps on this sense promoted by the Italian government, which has convinced the Commission to support their “Piano Mattei”, a plan aimed to strengthen partnership with African countries https://www.governo.it/en/articolo/mattei-plan-africa-and-global-gateway-common-effort-african-continent-summit/29040
